Home of Fresh Yorkshire Gelato

Come to our working dairy farm and enjoy some of the freshest and most delicious ice cream in Yorkshire; all made in the classic gelato style using milk and cream direct for the farm. Our ‘ladies’ produce milk of exceptionally high quality, helping us to make the most amazing gelato. But there’s more than just gelato at The Milk Churn.

Enjoy a snack and fabulous coffee, while the kids let off steam in our playground. Sit outside in our secluded garden, or inside in the warmth of the café. Either way, you’ll have a relaxing and enjoyable time at the Milk Churn.

We’re open every day, just off the main A58 Leeds-Wetherby road, just a few minutes north of the Leeds Ring Road. There’s ample free parking or the half-hourly X98/X99 buses go to the gate.

We’re a third-generation family dairy farm, which has been supplying milk to the local villages for over a century and still does.

Like all modern farms we see the need to modernise and diversify, but we are ever conscious of our additional responsibility as custodians of the land we farm.

The Milk Churn is but one part of our modernisation plan for Beech Grove Farm. We have adopted the latest dairy farming practices including robotic milking and automatic calf feeding and have also worked with partners to improve the environment. In addition to the Milk Churn venture, we have recently invested in an anaerobic digester. This amazing bit of kit uses the cow slurry to produce electricity to power the farm and the cafe, while at the same time reducing our carbon footprint and protecting the ozone layer.

We work with the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust and support their efforts to keep local watercourses clean, which is better for the environment and helps to prevent flooding in the future.

In summary, we are a long-established family run farm, always looking to the future but who also understand the role we all play as custodians of our landscape and protectors of the environment for our children and theirs.
